Achievements as a Zontian

During my term as Club President, Zonta Club of Bangkok II received Governor’s Award in the Continuous Project category at the 19th District Conference.

The project was scholarships for students from elementary to university level, which the Club had granted for the past 36 years.

I believe in improving women’s lives through education. During my term as Club President, the Club granted the highest number of scholarships ever been made – 80. The scholarships were granted not only to female but also male students as I believed that to build a better world for women is a collaboration among all genders.

Contribution of business/professional experience to the effective performance of positions:

From 1985-1995, I worked as human resource officer at Industrial Finance Corporation of Thailand, a 450-employee company. I was responsible for developing and organizing training courses, including executive courses for middle management and all directors. Experience in both companies will enable me to effectively determine appropriate candidates to serve Zonta.

For Nominating Committee

Please describe your ideas for succession planning for future Zonta leaders and how you will identify, engage and recruit candidates.

There must be Nominating Committee Members for every Area.

  • In order to be eligible for Nominating Committee Candidate, a Zontian must have been an Area Director. Once a Zontian pasts this position, as in my case, she gains access and experience in knowing a larger group of Zontians. She will be able to initially identify potential leaders for different Committee/Positions.
  • Nominating Committee Members in each Area must always visit most, if not all, of all Club meetings and activities. This will enable the Committee Member to closely monitor, identify, encourage and nominate capable, ethical, and trustworthy candidates.
  • Administration in all levels must be streamlined and simplified as too much red-tape turns away many capable and efficient individuals.
For Thailand, language barrier must be eliminated. Zonta is unable to attract many potential leaders for Area 6, an Area with the highest members, due to this barrier.
  • Encouragement of member involvement in both management area and activity engagement/organization (Service, Advocacy, Education and so on) is vital to the development of future leaders.
